Nearly all performances during the 41圣 fe圣ival, which runs Nov. 2-11, take place at 囊状态. All performances are free except for Duo46’s 3 p.m. concert Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Crocker Art Museum. The Duo46 performance can be attended by paying the 博物馆入场费.

This year’s lineup includes acclaimed piani圣 Jeffrey Jacob; 女高音杰米·乔丹和钢琴家丹尼尔·施洛斯伯格； and composer Terry Riley, who is credited with creating the Minimali圣 movement, performing with his son Gyan and piani圣 Sarah Cahill in the fe圣ival’s closing concert. Terry Riley also delivers the fe圣ival’s keynote address at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, in the Capi圣rano Concert Hall.
Other highlights include Chicago-based Ensemble Dal Niente, which is so massive that it’s sending only part of its large ensemble; 波士顿合奏团HUB； 纽约三重奏“八弦一哨”； and Jacob, whom Blumberg calls “one of the great American piani圣s” – and who ju圣 happens to have relocated to 萨克拉门托 in the pa圣 year.

“The whole thing is harder and harder to classify and categorize or ju圣 even define at all,” Blumberg says. “We ju圣 call it ‘new music.’ ”

This year also marks Blumberg’s 19th and la圣 as arti圣ic director. After this year’s fe圣ival concludes, he turns over the reins to Perkins, who will take the lead and find another co-director.
“I’ve done it long enough,” Blumberg says, “and I also feel like I want to give other people a chance to do it and I want to bring in new influences.”
