Each year, 萨克拉门托 State recognizes individuals who make a difference in their communities and the world at large by bestowing upon them the University’s highest honors. 

For 2020 and 2021, 囊状态 honors six outstanding women and men whose work has made a positive impact on peoples’ lives on campus, in 萨克拉门托, and beyond.  

Three are recipients of the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, an engraved medallion presented by University President Robert S. Nelsen to individuals who provide outstanding service to 萨克拉门托 State, higher education, the general public, or the common good.

The honors are typically bestowed at the University’s Spring Commencement ceremonies, which were held virtually in 2020 and via a socially distanced on-campus car parade in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 2020年的获奖者已经得到了大学的认可，2021年的获奖者将在今年晚些时候庆祝。 

2021 President’s Medal for Distinguished Service 

Rekhi辛格 ’88 (MBA) practices the science of happiness and in 2019 founded 萨克拉门托 State’s first endowed professorship, the Rekhi辛格 Endowed Professor of Happiness, housed in the Psychology department. 辛格是R Systems的创始人兼首席执行官，这是一家专门从事信息技术外包的全球性公司。 He will receive his medal in August.  

快乐 Stewart-James, associate vice president for Student Health and Counseling Services, led 萨克拉门托 State’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Among her life-saving efforts was partnering with 萨克拉门托 County Public Health to establish the University as a vaccination site and then helping open a campus walk-up clinic where Nursing students vaccinated more than 19,000 faculty, staff, students, and community members. 斯图尔特-詹姆斯将于9月获得奖牌。

2020 President’s Medal for Distinguished Service 

Marielle B. Tsukamoto is a lifelong advocate of inclusivity and civil rights, fueled by the three years she and her family lived in a World War II internment camp. 冢本后来担任了日裔美国公民联盟（Japanese American Citizens League）弗洛林分会主席和学校行政人员。 Her mother, Mary, another longtime educator, was instrumental in the creation of 囊状态’s extensive Japanese American Archival Collection.

凯文·迈克尔·内格尔， chairman and CEO of Sac Soccer & Entertainment Holdings, plays a major role in 萨克拉门托’s sports scene. As the region’s largest owner of the 萨克拉门托 Kings, he was twice instrumental in keeping the team in town. And through Sac Soccer & Entertainment Holdings, which owns 萨克拉门托 Republic FC, he is leading the effort to bring Major League Soccer to 萨克拉门托. 

洛伦达·桑切斯, a Northern Paiute and the executive director of California Indian Manpower Consortium 公司。, has dedicated more than 45 years to improving the lives of Native Americans. 据估计，有10万人受益于她的努力，帮助印第安人取得卓越成就，振兴社区，迎接21世纪的挑战。
